Lamis Shams

Known for her dedication and passion for music, Lamis was born in Cairo, Egypt and entered the Conservatoire at the age of ten, where she studied under Dr. Mahmoud Mekhemar. She pursued a successful career in performance as a soloist, collaborative, and orchestral pianist at prestigious venues such as the Cairo Opera house, and major concert halls of Germany, Hungary, Finland and Poland. She has participated in workshops and masterclasses in Egypt and abroad where she studied with internationally renowned artists including Catherine Vickers, Mariola Cieniawa, Ralf Gothoni, Lucas Blondeel, Ramzi Yassa, Yasser Mokhtar and others. Lamis has won first prize in local and international competitions and in 2022, She was featured as a soloist with Cairo Symphony Orchestra.

Lamis got her bachelor degree from Cairo Conservatoire in 2016 and finished her post-graduate diploma in Piano Performance in 2018 with highest honors. In 2020, She received the Robert Turnball piano foundation Grant and moved to Chicago, Illinois to pursue her Master’s degree in Piano Performance. Later, She finished the Professional Studies program at Manhattan School of Music under Wael Farouk, as a recipient of the International Advisory board Award, marking history as the first Egyptian woman to study at this institution. Lamis believes in the power of music in changing lives and elevating societies and has served on the piano faculties of the Cairo and Alexandria Conservatories. Currently, she’s a doctoral candidate in Piano Performance at Rutgers University under Dr. Karina Bruk.
