Josh Conklin
Josh Conklin is a multi-instrumentalist active on the New York/New Jersey scene. He specializes in classical percussion and drum set, playing both orchestral works and musical theatre music. He has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Dizzy's Club and NJPAC. He currently studies at MSM, studying under Chris Lamb, She-e Wu, Duncan Patton and Steven White. Josh has played drums in a number of classic shows, including Guys and Dolls, Matilda, and Newsies. Additionally, Josh plays bass in the indie rock band Andersen, which recently released it's first EP. Josh enjoys composing music, winning a prize at the NAfME young composers competition. He started and led his own dixieland jazz band in high school which performed at various social events and competitions.
Josh draws on his diverse musical background in his teaching, primarily focusing on teaching drum set. He mainly teaches younger students, with a flexible style that allows the student to have a say in what they are learning. His approach focuses on ensuring the student is having fun, which will ultimately help them stay engaged and interested in what they are learning.
