AMY CHEN

As one of the youngest graduates of Griffith Conservatorium, holding both a full scholarship and Sir Samule Griffith Scholarship, Taiwanese-Australian Pianist Amy is currently attending Manhattan School of Music under the coaching of Phillip Kawin.  


She has performed for Steinway Piano Opening, Fazioli Piano Opening and the Australian Examinations Board.

Amy is an active competitor and is currently a holder of the Queensland Foundation Prize, Margarete Ann Foundation Award, Brisbane Esteidfodd Prize Winner, Ruby C Cooling Prize, Queensland Piano Competition Prize Winner. These awards have led her to perform on radios such as Radio Classic for Young Artists 4MBS and 2MBS Radio all throughout Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Amy has performed throughout Australia, Europe and Taiwan. She holds both LmusA in Piano and Violin, and obtained the Academic Achievement of Highest Mark Awarded throughout her degree.  

 Her spirit and determination has given her opportunities to have masterclasses with prestigious musicians such as Mikola Suk, Angela Hewitt, Stephen Hough, Sonia Lifschitz and The Silver Garbug Duo. Amy’s love for music extends past her international solo career. During her time in Australia, she has taught at private schools such as Brisbane Boys College, St Lawrence’s Colledge and recruited over 200 students at J Music School, while writing new course curriculums for students from ages 3-17. Amy believes that teaching piano is a harmonious effort between the Teacher, Parent and Student. Her favorite moments throughout her musical career is cheering for her students as they perform for their first time on stage!
